Vitalik Buterin to present the roadmap for ETH

Vitalik Buterin, the Ethereum co-founder, drew his vision for a probable roadmap for Eth2. He illustrates a future where the largest smart-contract platform can enhance scalability while meeting high censorship resistance standards.

On Monday, in a post named Endgame, Buterin offered a theory experiment for how the average blockchain has the perception of censorship-resistant and sufficiently trustless. The apparent compromise for this level of scalability is the block production’s centralization. Buterin’s solutions do not discuss the centralization issue but still present a roadmap for implementation.

Concerning the solutions, Buterin suggested a second line of staking with low resource requirements to perform assigned block validation.

He introduced ZK-SNARKS or fraud-proof to allow users to check block validity directly.

Buterin explained that these updates result in getting a centralized block production chain. However, block validation is highly decentralized and trustless, while specific anti-censorship methods prevent the block generators from censoring.

Buterin also said that the block production could remain centralized even with implementing rollups, responsible for completing transactions outside the main Ethereum chain. We have to mention that Buterin introduced a rollup-centric roadmap at the end of 2020.

He said that any rollup could struggle to hold close to the majority of Ethereum activity. Instead, they all reach a top limit of a few hundred transactions per second. While rollups seem to contribute to distributed block production, decentralization might not last because of MEV (the maximum amount of value). It can be earned from block production.

The Ethereum co-founder assumed that there’s a big chance that block production will finally become centralized despite its route to scalability. He added that the idea of Ethereum’s rollup-centric roadmap is that its result can be flexible and open to all futures. The excitement around Ethereum started last year.
