Ukraine Announces New NFT Plans

Ukraine has received approximately $40 million in cryptocurrency donations, with roughly $7 million coming after the cancellation of the airdrop. Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, declared that the country had decided to postpone an airdrop for cryptocurrency donors announced on Tuesday in favor of generating more cash through the sale of nonfungible tokens (NFTs). On Wednesday, Ukraine’s crypto airdrop program took an unexpected turn; a fraudulent account produced 7 billion “Peace World Tokens,” giving the impression that they were the genuine airdrop token for crypto contributors.

The bogus airdrop started about an hour before the officially declared time, but Etherscan quickly detected it. Fedorov confirmed a few hours later that Ukraine will use NFTs. Following the announcement of the airdrop, the official Ukrainian crypto wallet for contributions received $7 million in donations; this sparked debate on Crypto Twitter. While the minister did not specify why the airdrop was canceled, some in the crypto world were disappointed. In contrast, like Twitter personality, Cobie found comedy in the situation.
