The blockchain-based platform will show data about Covid-19

After several months of lockdowns and restrictions, businesses are reopening at last. However, new infection cases are emerging every day, and people live in fear of infection. Several blockchain companies decided to find a solution to alleviate such concerns. They began developing blockchain -based digital identity solutions designed to help countries reopen safely.

A digital identity startup, Civic Technologies, is working with Circle Medical, an affiliate of San Francisco’s UCSF Health hospital. They are currently developing “Health Key by Civic.” It will enable companies with more than 500 employees to verify if their workforce has had coronavirus tests. Employers will also see the results of each COVID-19 test taken by their employees.

Not only that but using “Health Key by Civic,” employers will be able to determine if their employees have received the treatment once a vaccine is developed.

What about another project?

The Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus declared about the deployment of a blockchain -based medical data management platform. It’s called “E-NewHealthLife”. Digital healthcare solution firm, I-Dante, developed this tracking platform along with VeChain to store COVID-19 test results.

The E-NewHealthLife platform produces a digital health passport, which is an encrypted non-fungible card. The passport is within a mobile app – E-HCert. It keeps track of each patient’s medical data. Patients can use it to identify themselves automatically when registering at the hospital’s emergency room or share data if needed.

Solutions for proof-of-health like these are starting to play a major role. The virus has highlighted the potential for health data and identity management – stated Co-founder of the Blockchain Research Institute, Alex Tapscott.

However, Tapscott also said that even though the pandemic has demonstrated the need for easy access to people’s private information, it also showed us the risks of going too far. Blockchain is a perfect solution as it allows people to easily access sensitive data while protecting personal privacy as well.
