Russian Ruble Drop to Record Low – Putin Attacks Ukraine

The Russian ruble fell on Thursday. The country’s troops invaded Ukraine. The dollar increased more than 10% against the Russian currency. This brought the ruble to its lowest level against the dollar. The ruble traded at $89.8903 in the morning hours in Moscow; And from the previous day, the dollar exchange rate increased by 10.45%. Moscow has stopped selling in all its markets.

On Thursday, the Russian president announced a special military operation. Just two days after sending troops to the eastern Ukrainian separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. The number of Russian forces near the Ukrainian border reaches 150,000. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister said after 7 a.m. local time that Russia had started intensive bombardment of Ukrainian units in the eastern part of the country.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it had repulsed an airstrike. Authorities say the attacks were carried out on Ukrainian border units using artillery and other heavy equipment. Another attack took place from the Crimean side of the annexed Russian peninsula. The Ukrainian government has warned its citizens to take shelter to avoid possible rocket attacks on Kyiv. NATO will hold an emergency meeting in response to the invasion. The US President condemned Putin’s actions and promised to impose tough sanctions on Russia.
