ParTech plans to release Helix technology for restaurants

ParTech, Inc. is one of the leading global providers of point of sale software, as well as integrated technical solutions to the restaurant industry. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation. It recently announced the official launch of its latest terminal, called – the PAR Helix™.

The Helix has a 13.3″ widescreen monitor, which is giving it a smaller restaurant footprint compared to PAR’s current slate of terminals. However, it includes 8GB of RAM, along with 128GB SSD and an Apollo Lake Intel Celeron Processor. Furthermore, the purpose-built terminal simplifies system maintenance and future upgrades. It has a removable compute module, which minimized overall downtime. When a part needs to be replaced or the operating system needs to be upgraded, the entire compute module can be swapped out quickly.

PAR Helix has other interesting features as well, among them a double-hinge system. Restaurants can adjust the terminal to a variety of different heights, thus accommodating traditional and low-profile set-ups. As a result, the staff is able to comfortably use the terminal at any height. Besides, it includes a built in I/O board as well to connect peripherals to the terminal. Users can upgrade it with an expandable I/O board that offers them the option to connect more accessories as needed.

Ryan Volberg, the SVP and GM of PAR Restaurant Solutions Group, stated that they wanted the Helix to remove some of the most common barriers restaurant staff usually face with their guests. They wanted a terminal that was easy to maintain and upgrade and didn’t get in the way of the guest experience. According to Volberg, this terminal combines all those features, as well as PAR’s track record of excellent customer service and support. He added that they are excited to see how the Helix helps PAR live up to their mantra – Food. People. Nothing in between™. Restaurants will be able to purchase the Helix after January 20, 2021.
