NASDAQ Composite Climbed 0.16%, Dow Jones and S&P 500 Fell

On Tuesday, August 10, the NASDAQ Composite Index climbed from yesterday’s fall while the Dow Jones and S&P 500 fell from Monday’s peak.

The NASDAQ Composite Index increased 0.16% with a net gain of $24.42. This sent the stocks higher to $14,860 per share.

NASDAQ Composite’s best performers include Golden Nugget Online Gaming Inc which smashed 50.77% or 6.23 points to $18.50 per share.

Cortexyme Inc followed as it spiked 47.32% or 31.77 points to $98.91 per share. Then, Tarena International Inc ADR grew 40.30% or 0.54 points to $1.88 per share. 

On the other hand, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.30% with a net decline of 106.66 points. This sent the stock below at $35,102 per share.

Its worst performers were Amgen Inc which tumbled 0.98% or 2.26 points to $227.89 per share.

Then, UnitedHealth Group Inc collapsed 1.02% or 4.25 points to $140.87 per share. Also, Chevron Corp slipped 1.67% or 1.70 points to $100.25 per share.

Consequently, the Dow Jones Utility Average Index flopped 0.17% with a net change of 1.62 points. This sent the stock down at $925.12 per share.

Likewise, the benchmark S&P 500 plummeted 0.09% with a net loss of $4.17. This sent the stocks to the bottom at $4,432 per share.

Then, Darden Restaurants Inc plunged 4.47% or 6.47 points to $138.23 per share. Additionally, Diamondback Energy Inc lost 3.52% or 2.82 points to $77.23 per share.

Global Stocks Mixed

Furthermore, the MSCI World Index crashed 0.03% with a net loss of $1.00. This sent the stocks to the bottom at $3,097.06 per share.

In the European Union, France’s CAC 40 Index slid 0.06% or 3.78 points to $6,813 per share.

The same with Germany’s DAX which also sank 0.10% or 16.04 points to $15,745 per share.

While the MDAX Performance Index gained 0.11% or 40.28 points to $35,607 per share.

In the Asia Pacific, China’s Shenzhen Component and Shanghai Composite Index both fluctuated to $14,890.07 and $3,489.74, respectively.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Nikkei 225 hopped 0.08% or 22.98 points to $27,843 per share.

Also, the broader TOPIX Index jumped 0.28% or 5.45 points to $1,934.79 per share.
