Initiative of #BuiltWithBitcoin to Build Schools in Africa

The Peer-to-Peer marketplace continues its push to highlight the benevolent and positive nature of the community of Bitcoin. P2P cryptocurrency market Paxful announced that it had broken ground on a new school in Nigeria. It is the fourth school of a hundred planned. It is the #BuiltWithBitcoin initiative to bring quality education to emerging countries.

The school is in the community of Sanga Local, in Ankara Nandu. Between the ages of 3 and 6, it will serve an estimated 100-120 children, and double as an adult education center in the evenings. The city has a population of around four thousand people. Unfortunately, it has only one school providing both secondary and primary education.

Paxful co-founder and CEO Ray Youssef explained that the limited school infrastructure and lack of necessary resources is the reason for choosing this community. They need the most quality learning spaces. Furthermore, this school can be a real representation of the impact of Bitcoin on societies, and it can enhance education.

The new facility will have state-of-the-art solar power, filtration system, and water as well. Moreover, all the schools built with the same initiative will have the same equipment.

It will ensure that schools will not be affected by the regular power outages in the region. Moreover, it will cut the electricity expenses. So, it will allow locals to sell filtered water to their community at a very rational price.

Paxful’s #BuiltWithBitcoin initiative began in 2017. It was with the partnership of humanitarian organization Zam Zam Water. The first two schools from #BuiltWithBitcoin are in Rwanda. The company built those schools in 2017 and 2018. The third one is in Kenya since 2020.

All in all, Paxful covers all the fees associated with running the schools, including support staff and teachers’ salaries, school supplies, and uniforms.

Furthermore, Paxful says that it will cover personal protective equipment for teachers and students.
