India Stocks Drop

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS: EICH), which rose 3.93% or 115.25 points to trade at 3,046.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS: ONGC) added 3.29% or 4.00 points to end at 125.50. Moreover, Tata Steel Ltd (NS: TISC) was up 3.03% or 26.85 points to 912.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS: BRTI), which fell 4.98% or 34.60 points to trade at 660.55 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS: TCS) declined 4.64% or 151.65 points to end at 3,113.80. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS: HCLT) was down 4.07% or 40.00 points to 943.55.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO: TISC) which rose 3.04% to 912.70, and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO: MAHM), which was up 2.86% to settle at 1,165.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO: READY) which gained 2.25% to close at 4,502.75.

The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO: BRTI) which was down 5.03% to 660.30 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO: TCS), which lost 4.64% to settle at 3,113.25, and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO: HCLT) which was down 4.10% to 943.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1198 to 635, and 60 ended unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2019 rose, 1285 fell, while 155 ended unchanged.

Shares in Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS: EICH) rose to 3-year highs, up 3.93% or 115.25 to 3,046.85. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS: HCLT) fell to 52-week lows, down 4.07% or 40.00 to 943.55. Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 7.00 to $1,735.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.28% or 2.39 to hit $102.40 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.80% or 1.93 to trade at $105.09 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.22% to 79.47, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 80.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 107.40.
