The European Central Bank is the central bank for the eurozone countries. It is the prime component of the Eurosystem. The Treaty of Amsterdam in May 1999 established the ECB. The European Central Bank manages the euro and implements EU monetary and economic policies. Its main aim is to keep prices stable, thereby supporting economic growth and job creation.
