Apple’s GPS smartwatches
Last year saw an explosion of new smartwatches. However, this year saw a bit more of a measured pace. While some of that is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of it is caused by the tick-tock nature some manufacturers take when it comes to new watch release cycles. It seems the industry is slowly shifting to match Apple’s yearly release cycle for Apple Watch. Nonetheless, it probably won’t be the case for every product line out there.
While there are lots of new watches which are perfectly good, we chose a few which are outstanding. Apple watches, such as Fitbit Versa 3, Garmin Vivoactive, or 3Polar Ignite, among them.
Apple watch is aimed at customers, who are looking for a watch that’ll track their workouts but won’t obsess over data. However, the tricky part is deciding which one to choose. Series 3 is a steal these days at $169, and it has GPS, along with offline music support.
On the other hand, Series 6 is the newest addition with the fully always-on display, ECG, SpO2, as well as a pile of nuanced changes you won’t notice. The company also released the new Apple Watch SE this year, attempting to split the difference. It’s available for approximately $279 instead of the $399 of the full Apple Watch Series 6.

Garmin Vivoactive 3 and Vivoactive 4
You may ask why the VA3 and not the VA4? The answer is simple – price to features. While the Vivoactive 3 costs between $110 and $130 these days, the Vivoactive 4, while very good, costs approximately $249.
However, there’s not that much difference between those two models. VA3 is quite capable of doing most of the stuff that the Vivoactive 4 offers.
