Asia Pacific Stocks Mostly Down, Wall Street Rallied

On Monday, Asia Pacific stocks were mostly down while Wall Street stocks rallied ahead of the U.S. Federal Meeting on Wednesday.

China’s Shenzhen Component and Shanghai Composite Index both plummeted 2.50% or 375.25 points at $14,653.32 and 2.18% or 77.27 points at $3,473.13, respectively.

Likewise, South Korea’s KOSPI also lost 0.53% with a net loss of $17.18 which sent the stocks to the bottom at $3,237.24 per share, respectively.

Moreover, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined 3.08% with a net decrease of $841.29. This sent the stocks below at $26,480.69 per share.

Meanwhile, in the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nikkei 225 climbed 1.24% or $342.81. This sent the stock higher at $27,890.81 per share.

Its best performers include Hitachi Zosen Corp which increased 5.92% or 4.00 points to $7.13 per share.

This was followed by JFE Holdings Inc and Toray Industries Inc which both progressed 5.44% or 67.00 points to $11.77 per share and 5.36% or 36.50 points to $6.50 per share, respectively.

Also, the broader TOPIX Index smashed 1.27% with a net gain of $24.11. This sent the stocks above at $1,928.52 per share.

Consequently, the S&P/ASX of Australia hopped 0.01% with a net increase of $1.00. This sent the stock up at $7,395.40 per share.

It was led by Lynas Rare Earths Ltd, RedBubble Ltd, and Alumina Ltd which all rallied 10.11% to $7.08, 7.42% to $4.20, and 6.48% to $1.73, respectively.

Wall Street Stocks Up

Furthermore, Wall Street stocks were up as NASDAQ Composite Index led the gains by 1.04% with a net addition of $152.39 which sent the stocks above at $14,837 per share.

Its best performer was NanoVibronix Inc which progressed 248.14% or 1.86 points at $2.61 per share.

Also, the benchmark S&P 500 jumped 1.01% with a net increase of $44.31. This sent the stocks up at $4,412 per share. 

The coronavirus vaccine maker Moderna Inc was its top performer which advanced 7.84% or 25.35 points at $348.83 per share.

Likewise, the Dow Jones Industrial Average improved 0.68% with a net gain of $238.20. This sent the stocks higher at $35,062 per share.

Visa Inc led its gains by rising 2.00% or 4.88 points to $249.02 per share.
