Arvind Krishna and International Business Machines Corp

On Tuesday, International Business Machines Corp will launch a slew of business-oriented cloud computing and artificial intelligence products. Arvind Krishna is International Business Machines Corp’s chief executive. Under his leadership, it will be the first major initiative.

Mr. Krishna, at the age of 57 on April 6, formally became CEO. He is Ginni Rometty’s successor, who was leading the company for eight years. Thus, she pushed the technology giant into new areas of potential growth and left IBM in a stronger financial position. Moreover, the new areas included cloud-computing and artificial intelligence services for business.

Nonetheless, sustainable revenue growth is still a challenge. Moreover, it is a challenge when it is compared with the performance of other large technology companies. That is what The Wall Street Journal wrote in January.

Mr. Krishna must drive into the headwinds of a crisis of global economic triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, as he addresses the need for growth.

On Monday, Mr. Krishna had an interview with reporters from the Journal. Krishna said that he thinks he is a realist in terms of where they are headed. Thus, on April 20, Krishna withdrew the guidance of the company’s annual earnings. Moreover, he announced a decline in first-quarter sales. Therefore, citing the coronavirus, a crisis he took a restructuring charge.

Nevertheless, overall, Mr. Krishna positive. Moreover, he said that he believes fundamentally in the technology’s power and ability to change the way we live for the better. Krishna added that the company was focused on markets where there is plenty of room for growth.

Moreover, IBM has bet on hybrid cloud computing in recent years. In a hybrid cloud computing, companies use a combination of their computing resources and data centers leased from others and accessed online. Moreover, to IB’s 2019 acquisition of Red Hat Inc., the hybrid cloud was vital. It was a deal of approximately $33 billion in which Mister Krishna played a key role. Moreover, it placed a significant bet on the adoption of artificial intelligence by corporate users.

Artificial Intelligence

In recent days Mr. Krishna gave a speech. He said that the marketplace adoption of hybrid cloud is only about 20% complete. Moreover, the adoption of artificial intelligence is 4% full, believes Krishna.

Mr. Krishna also said that the pandemic would dramatically accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and hybrid-cloud. It is because companies turn to the services of the cloud for helping their employees serve customers and work remotely. Moreover, it helps because artificial intelligence automates certain types of work.

There was a conference about the company’s annual Think Digital. Ahead of the meeting, Mr. Krishna said that that would accelerate what might have been a five-year journey. It will be held online, usually an in-person event, primarily on Wednesday and Tuesday.

The company is expecting more than 80,000 people to attend the virtual Think Digital 2020 conference, excluding employees of IBM. Moreover, usually, the in-person event is attracting about 30,00, including employees.

Nevertheless, IBM introduced new products. Those products aim to differentiate the company in the push for expanding the use of artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud.
